Baby's Room on a Budget

I really wanted to design a happy, pretty, handmade room for my daughter. I also wanted to keep the costs low. I love the challenge of creating something great for a bargain. I knew that I wanted a lot of pink and a very girly room if we were having a girl. The day we found out we were having a girl, my husband bought pink paint and got to work on the walls! I began collecting inexpensive wood flowers from Michael's, picking out paints and fabrics, and searching online for designs. I decided on light pink, hot pink, white, and a touch of black. I bought acrylic paints from Michael's and WalMart for less than $1 for each color. I spent my free time painting the wood flowers, painting designs on the walls (that I had drawn and stenciled), and ordering furniture online. I found the crib on a furniture wholesale website that had free shipping. My mother-in-law purchased the glider and ottoman on Walmart's website. Walmart is great if you can find anything on their site since they have free site to store shipping!! They have tons of stuff on their website that they don't provide in stores. I had two garage sales to just get rid of junk before the baby arrived and used the money I made to purchase a pink chandelier (that I also found online)! My mom made all of the bedding and I painted the letters of Macy's name to match the fabric. I ordered the letters on Ebay from a guy who cuts them himself. They were like $2 each! I really feel like we created a decor that Macy can enjoy for years. The final result? My favorite room in the house!
